Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

At Sunnyside we firmly believe that your child deserves the best possible start in life.

Childhood should be a safe, secure and precious experience that provides the foundations for your child to make the most of their talents and abilities.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS).

A unique child

Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive relationships

Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

Enabling environments

The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.

Learning and development

Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.

All this allows your child to enjoy a wide range of activities at Sunnyside. We have devised a curriculum to encompass all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and to achieve the necessary balance between the principal areas of learning which are: Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy; Communication, Language and Literacy; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Knowledge and Understanding of the World; and Creative and Physical Development.
